Tesla (TSLA) unexpectedly turned a profit in the third quarter, sending shares soaring in after-hours trading.

Here were the main numbers from the report, versus consensus expectations compiled by Bloomberg:

• Revenue: $6.30 billion vs. $6.45 billion expected and $6.82 billion YOY

• Adjusted earnings per share: $1.86 vs. loss of 24 cents expected and earnings of $2.90 YOY

As is typical with Tesla’s quarterly expectations, the range of the Street’s estimates for the company’s bottom-line results ran a wide gamut, ranging from a loss of as much of $1.25 per share to earnings of as much as 34 cents per share, according to Bloomberg data.

Shares of Tesla jumped more than 18% to $301.46 each as of 5:36 p.m. ET after the estimates-topping earnings results were released.

AAPL за 10 дней +3.75% что не является, конечно, феноменальным результатом, просто у нас на двоих 5 (пять!) устройств эппл и на earnings 1 мая я из принципа должен выжать хоть что-то из паразитов, иначе не смогу себя уважать.

Прикупил чуть чуть aapl по 191.51 
Колюжына не нашли, это хорошо, шабаш ихний сегодня про стриминг шмиминг вроде бы это тоже хорошо. Yield Curve впервые с 2007 отрицательная это плохо (доходность по коротким бондам выше чем по длинным то есть в ближайшие несколько лет а то и год ожидают рецессию).

 для меня, естественно, интересное теоретически, для общего развития. Но есть нюанс, как говорил Василий Иваныч. 50-75% объема торгов в наши мрачные времена, как следует из этого доклада, это High Frequency Trading.  То есть торговля роботами, и чем же это грозит? Роботы, каждый из которых совершает 12000 сделок в секунду (или минуту, не помню), являются как бы, то есть не как бы а фактически продавцами и покупателями на рынке. Что же происходит, когда рынок наводнен продавцами и покупателями? Правильно, волатильность падает и на гипотетическом рынке с бесконечным количеством продавцов и покупателей цена просто никогда никуда не двинется, потому что рынок залит бесконечным количеством ликвидности. Проблема не в том, что роботы быстрее или умнее, проблема в том что они убивают волатильность, и говорят что в последние годы это уже заметно, так сказать, незбройным оком. Это не очень страшно для огромного хедж фонда, может быть, но плохо для бедного крестьянина из провинции Юйюй, снискающего свою ежедневную чашечку риса. Конкурировать с проклятыми роботами я если и могу, то только на хороших движениях, а если нет волатильности, то и движений нет (равно как и наоборот).

Intelligence and good market analysis can certainly contribute to success, but they are not the defining factors that separate the consistent winners from everyone else. Well, if it isn’t intelligence or better analysis, then what could it be? Having worked with some of the best and some of the worst traders in the business, and having helped some of the worst become some of the best, I can state without a doubt that there are specific reasons why the best traders consistently out-perform everyone else. If I had to distill all of the reasons down to one, I would simply say that the best traders think differently from the rest. I know that doesn’t sound very profound, but it does have profound implications if you consider what it means to think differently.
